Your baby's makes his first car trip when he is being brought home from the hospital. Therefore, your vehicle needs to be ready for that first trip home. Of course, the needs of a 3-day old infant vary from that of a 6-month old baby. In the beginning a simple infant car seat is all you need. Most people look for additional accessories as their babies become older and feel comfortable while traveling. So, you may purchase the bare essentials and add these accessories as and when they become relevant.
Seat safety:
Curiosity often leads a baby to experiment with the various buttons on his seat. He may press, pull and push quite unaware of the fact that one of the levers may just unhook him from his seat. When you are driving, there is no way for you to monitor this. A buckle guard unobtrusively slips over a standard seat buckle and its release button is so positioned that a child's curious fingers cannot access it readily.
A 'snug sit' wraps around the seatbelt and prevents your baby from wriggling out of his shoulder straps.
Many child seats do not offer enough protection to baby's head and neck. Head huggers do just that. They prevent sudden and jarring motions of the head. The soft cushioning makes the baby comfortable. The product you buy is 100% machine washable (baby drool and milk are some things that are likely to spill on this). The headrest should be adjustable as well, so you can shift it according to your baby's needs.
If the baby seat does not sit snugly, you may want to buy some additional padding made of dense foam that helps to level rear-facing baby seats. Look for models that are LATCH-compatible. Additional padding offers lateral support and makes your child seat safe from sideways tipping.
Seat comfort:
A baby's skin is quite tender and you may have to protect him from painfully hot car seats. If you live in a particularly hot place, chances are that your seats, seatbelts, steering etc become uncomfortably hot on a sunny day. Whether you are waiting for the traffic signal to change or for pedestrians to cross, your baby can become quite worked up if he or she is in the direct glare of the hot sun. Sunshades block out the sun and make the interiors of the car cool.
A convex infant mirror, when placed on the back seat of your car, will allow you to look directly at your baby if your baby is facing the rear of the car. You can then talk to your baby and soothe him if he gets restless.
A child's backseat organizer is a nice addition when you are traveling, especially with a restless toddler. You can now put all the things you need in one place, and supply anything your baby demands without having to search frantically for it.
When a baby is in the car, you simply have to take some steps to protect your upholstery. Spots made from drool, soiled diapers, juice, or food may decorate the interior of your car if you do not have a high-density foam mat or cover to protect your seat. Its non-slip surface also provides added safety. Look for additional features like pockets for bottles and sections for blankets
Please read ahead about the items you intend to purchase and install them properly. These accessories are aimed at increasing your baby's safety and pleasure while traveling. Improper installation may make any of these products potentially dangerous.
