Early Signs of Pregnancy

One of the most exciting and terrifying times in a woman’s life is when she believes she may be pregnant. Depending on the circumstances, finding out you are having a baby can either be a blessing or it can lead to endless hours of worry.

There are several early signs of pregnancy that you should be aware of. Although these aren’t absolutes when it comes to determining whether or not you are indeed going to have a baby, they are worth considering. If you have several you would be advised to visit a doctor to confirm your suspicions.

The first sign for many women that they may indeed be pregnant is when they miss a period. If you are very regular with your menstrual cycle and you suddenly don’t get a period, there is a good chance that you could be pregnant. If you have an irregular cycle, this warning sign may not be as obvious to you as it is to other women.

Feeling extra tired can also be one of the first signs of pregnancy. The raging hormones that are present in a pregnant woman’s body can offset her entire system. She may find it harder to get out of bed in the morning and she will often be longing for a nap by mid-afternoon.

Moodiness can be a sign that your period is approaching, but it can also be a sign that you are pregnant. Again, the hormones in the body can cause your mood to shift suddenly and you may find yourself crying one moment and laughing the next.

Morning sickness is one of the early signs of pregnancy that many women experience. One of the common myths surrounding morning sickness is that it only occurs in the morning. This simply isn’t the case. That queasy feeling can last well beyond the morning hours and some women know instantly that they are pregnant when they begin feeling nauseous.

Having to visit the ladies’ room more often is also a sign that you may be having a baby. The uterus begins to swell shortly after conception and can press against the bladder. You may notice that you have to go quite often and this could be the reason why.

A change in appetite is one warning sign of pregnancy that many women experience. This can be either an increase or decrease in appetite. Obviously is a woman is suffering from morning sickness she will not find too many foods appealing. However, some women become ravenous during the beginning stages of their pregnancy. They crave certain foods and find themselves eating much more than they did before conception.

Another sign that a woman may be pregnant is one that is not often considered. Many women who have struggled to conceive are aware of the practice of keeping track of their body temperature. This is often advised by a doctor when trying to help a couple in their quest to have a baby. If the body temperature stays elevated for a period of two weeks or longer this can be one of the early signs of pregnancy.

Realizing that you have some of the signs of pregnancy should be enough for you to purchase a home pregnancy kit or visit your doctor. It is important to know very early whether or not you are going to have a baby.
