How To Get Pregnant Fast

How To Get Pregnant Fast

Patience is okay with some things, but if you are on the family track and you want to get pregnant NOW, “patience” can certainly be a dirty word.

Assuming you have no fertility issues that would require the intervention of a specialist, there are some things you can do that will help ensure your chances of getting pregnant fast — or at least how to get pregnant faster than would happen if you don’t do them. Let’s take a look at them.

Relax

Okay; easier said than done, right? But really, it’s been shown that if you’re uptight about getting pregnant, it might actually hurt your chances of that blessed event happening.

Have fun when… you know

(Hey, there are certain… things you have to do with your honey to get pregnant, and you want to keep those as fun as possible. So if you make THOSE a chore, who wins? Nobody! And you’ll probably hurt your chances of getting pregnant, too. So lighten up. It’s supposed to be fun.)

Take folic acid

Folic acid will help ensure that you’ll have a healthy baby that won’t have neural tube defects. Start taking it (it’s usually available in a multivitamin) two to three months before you begin to try to get pregnant.

Enjoy the afterglow

Don’t hop right up and go do something else after you make love. Instead, lie there and enjoy the afterglow. You increase your chances of getting pregnant faster, too, since you increase the chances of sperm meeting egg if you just “let things lie” for a good five minutes, at least, afterward.

Do it often

Especially during your fertile period, which is four to five days before you start your period, make love at least every 48 hours or so. (And more is always good, so if you want to, have at it.)

Cut the caffeine

Yep. Unfortunately, your morning cup of joe may give you a much-needed jolt to get you going for the day, but it also may hurt your chances of getting pregnant. So while you’re trying, switch to decaf.

Check your prescriptions

Both you and your partner’s prescriptions may be affecting fertility on both sides — yours and his. So make sure you visit your respective healthcare practitioner(s) and inform him or her that you’re trying to get pregnant. He or she can adjust any medications you’re taking that may be thwarting efforts to get pregnant quickly.

Hygiene is as hygiene does

If you want to be clean, great, but avoid douching, using scented tampons, or using anything else that’s going to upset the “vaginal environment.” Anything about your vaginal pH or other factors that could be detrimental to sperm health on the way to its destiny, so to speak, is also going to be detrimental to your efforts to get pregnant. So, be careful. (Incidentally, if you and your partner favor using lubricants or other substances during sex, be careful with these, too, since most of these substances can kill sperm. Put those things away for the time being.)

Finally, relax. (I know I said that already, but it bears repeating.) Even if everything else is perfect, getting pregnant is really a statistics game. Most women only have a 25% chance of getting pregnant naturally at any given time during their cycles. So if it doesn’t happen right away, forget about it for a while. You never know; lots of people have become parents when they just weren’t expecting to anymore and had “given up” trying. So just let nature take its course.
